Join the Queer Heritage South Archive Advisory Group!

Queer Heritage South is inviting LGBTQIA+ community members to help shape the future of the Queer Heritage South Live Archive, a landmark project made possible by a major award from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This investment is enabling us to build an inclusive, community-driven digital archive of LGBTQIA+ life across Brighton & Hove and the wider region.

We’re seeking six community members to join our new voluntary Archive Advisory Group. Members will meet four times a year to offer insight and perspectives on key issues and decisions relating to the Live Archive, helping to guide its development.

As an Advisory Group member, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the direction of the Live Archive, ensuring it represents, and responds to, the wide diversity of LGBTQIA+ life and culture in the region.

A central part of the role involves reviewing and giving feedback on the policies that guide what is included in the archive, how we approach material sensitively, and how we navigate the ethical considerations involved in collecting LGBTQIA+ histories. No archival experience is required, just a strong interest in community heritage and a willingness to read and engage thoughtfully with these policies.

We especially welcome voices often underrepresented in heritage spaces, including those of trans, non-binary and intersex people, BIPOC community members, disabled LGBTQIA+ people, working-class community members, older lesbians, and those involved in arts, activism, nightlife, or grassroots organising.

For more information, an informal chat, or to apply, please contact: archive@queerinbrighton.co.uk

The deadline to apply to these roles is 16th January 2026
